Come ye ladies and gents and revel in the festivities of long treasured Christmas traditions by attending this delightful ball!
Experience the allure of Christmas past at the 4th Annual Nauvoo, Dickens Christmas Ball and celebrate the holiday season Victorian style just as they knew in the time of Charles Dickens complete with delicacies, parlor games, singing Christmas Carols around the piano, & historical dancing of old fashioned charm at the beautiful Harvest View Farms Barn.
Historical Merriments will expertly transport you back in time and take you through the paces of the dances of that merry era, putting even inexperienced frolickers at ease on the dance floor interspersed with open waltzes and polkas. And of course, a Victorian ball wouldn’t be complete without some lively parlor games played throughout the evening. Savory nibbles and sweet delights will be provided for your refreshment.
Historical clothing styles from the lifetime of Dickens (1820-1870) or modern formal dress are requested.

Victorian Picnic
Saturday, June 3, 2023, 11:00 am on Cambre House Lawn
1 Cambre House Lane, Nauvoo, Illinois
You are cordially invited to join us on the Cambre House Lawn for a delightful Victorian Picnic!
We have changed the time to 11:00 AM.
A full catered lunch including beverages for your dining pleasure will be provided by Lock 19.
Victorian dancing and lawn games will be available to enjoy. Please bring your own parasols, fans, broad brimmed hats, and blankets for sitting.
A delightful Swing is hanging in the trees and is perfect for a little fun and charming pictures!
If the weather is stormy then we will move the picnic inside and play parlor games so a delightful time will be had rain or shine!
Victorian clothing from 1840 thru 1900 is encouraged, but not required.
If you'd like to have Victorian clothes, check with local theaters if want to rent, but if you think this is something you’ll be attending more than once you might want to make or buy your clothes. You can shop the thrift stores and google how to alter clothes into Victorian fashions. HistoricalEmporium.com carries some nice Victorian clothes for purchase. You can even find some very affordable dresses on Walmart.com that would work.
Is dancing a little scary for you or your partner? Fear not, if you can walk, turn about and know your right from your left you can do these dances! Historical Merriments teach all the dances of the afternoon and you will be amazed at how graceful you can be. Don't like dancing? (Is that even possible?) There will be croquet, badminton, graces, and bocce for your enjoyment.
For more dance instruction attend the Historical Classes offered prior to the picnic May 18 and June 1.

Nauvoo Regency Ball 2023
March 18, 6:30 pm at the Nauvoo Kirche
Please join us for an Austentatious night filled with Regency period dancing, game playing, and delectable desserts as you are transported 200 years back to the time of Jane Austen and Mr. Darcy!
Be sure to get your tickets early to avoid disappointment! Tickets are limited to 36 attendees.
Regency (1811-1820) clothing is encouraged, but formal or Sunday best is requested.
We will have prizes for the Best Dressed Regency Lady, Gentleman, Couple which will awarded by your popular vote.
